NovaDome Astro Series
Geodesic domeCan be orderedNovaDome ↗

The Astro Series, a geodesic dome kit from NovaDome, has no published price, covers 305 square feet, is engineered to 180 mph wind and carries 260 psf of roof snow load.
NovaDome does not publish a price for this model, so 44 percent of the fields we score are blank.
None of that tells you whether it works on your land. Wind, snow, seismic and flood performance are site specific engineering, so the only useful answer comes from running this kit against your address.
Completeness
56 percent of the fields we score are backed by something NovaDome published. Why completeness is never part of the grade.
The thing nobody else will tell you
This kit cannot be scored on its own. Nothing on this page tells you whether it works on your land.
Wind, snow, seismic and flood performance come from your address, not from this kit. Put in an address and the gates run against the real requirement at that point.

The Kit Home Finder Grade
Rubric v1.0, August 2026. Site fit is not in this grade, because it depends on your land rather than on the kit. Every weight, and what we refuse to grade.
What the maker publishes
Everything here came off NovaDome's own pages, cited at the bottom. A blank is a blank: we never fill one in.

| Wall R value | R-19 nominal, from a 2.4 inch rigid polyurethane foam layer in the fibreglass panel |
| Roof R value | R-19 nominal, the same panel assembly forms the roof of the dome |
| Foundation types | Elevated wooden deck platform, concrete slab, or a tether kit anchored directly to raw ground |

What the maker says it resists
Design capability as published. Not a certification, not a rating of your house, and not proof against anything.
| Engineered wind speed | 180 mph |
|---|---|
| Roof snow capability | 260 psf |
| Seismic | Not published |
| Fire | The Astro Series page carries the words 'Fire Rated' beside the wind figure, with no class, standard or test named. Ask them which standard, which assembly, and who tested it. |
Price
Not published
This maker publishes no price. That is the single most common gap in the Index, and it is the first thing to ask them.

What else we found
Designed and manufactured in Canada. Sold in three Astro variants, BASECAMP, EXPEDITION and TREK, all of which are quote only rather than published price, so there is no price to record. Ten year warranty published. NOTE AN INCONSISTENCY IN THEIR OWN COPY: the Astro Series page states 260 psf snow load, while the FAQ says the domes withstand '30 foot snow loads', which is a depth rather than a load and cannot be compared to the psf figure. We record the psf figure because it is the one expressed in the units a building department uses, and flag the other. Publishing both a wind speed and a snow load puts NovaDome in a very small minority of the makers in this Index.
Questions to send this maker
Generated from what they left blank. Every one of these is a thing they could answer today and have chosen not to publish. Copy them into an email. If they answer, tell us and we will update this page with the citation.
- What does this cost, in dollars, and exactly which build stages does that number cover?
- What Seismic Design Category will you engineer this model to, and is that included or a paid upgrade?
- What is the lead time in weeks from deposit to delivery, right now?
- Which states will you deliver to, and which will you not?
Across the whole Index, the average kit publishes about a quarter of what a buyer needs. This maker is at 56 percent.
Questions people ask about the NovaDome Astro Series
Answered from what NovaDome publishes, including the answers that are "they do not say".
How much does the NovaDome Astro Series cost?
NovaDome publishes no price for this model. Across the whole Index only about a third of makers publish a price in dollars at all.
What wind speed is the NovaDome Astro Series engineered to?
NovaDome publishes 180 mph for this model. That is their design capability at the conditions they assume, not a rating of your house. Your required design wind speed depends on your address, your Risk Category and your Exposure Category.
What snow load can the NovaDome Astro Series roof take?
NovaDome publishes 260 psf for this model. Check whether that is a ground snow load or a roof load, because they are different numbers and makers are not consistent about which one they quote.
Can you actually buy the NovaDome Astro Series?
Yes. NovaDome takes orders for this model today.
What foundation does the NovaDome Astro Series need?
NovaDome publishes: Elevated wooden deck platform, concrete slab, or a tether kit anchored directly to raw ground
How well does the NovaDome Astro Series stand up to a hurricane or a wildfire?
The honest answer is what it resists, and under what conditions. No kit home is proof against either, and any page telling you otherwise is selling. "Hurricane rated" has no legal definition in the United States, no house can be tornado rated, and whole building certifications like LEED, Passive House and HERS all require a built, sited, inspected home and cannot be attached to a model from a spec sheet. What a maker can honestly tell you is what the design resists and under what conditions. For this model, that is a 180 mph design wind speed.
Will the NovaDome Astro Series work on my land?
Nothing on any spec sheet can answer that, including this one. Wind, snow, seismic, flood and soil requirements come from your address, not from the kit. The Kit Home Finder runs every kit in the Index against the published hazard data for your point and shows you what survives and why the rest did not. It is free.

It documents more than the average geodesic dome kit, 56 percent against 30, and more than every other geodesic dome kit we hold. Publishing a design wind speed puts it in the 41 percent of geodesic dome makers that do.
Computed across all 514 kit homes in the Index, 17 of them geodesic dome. Recomputed on every build.
